JAZZ returns to the Electric Palace this week with a show from a Scandinavian outfit.
Swedish musicians Red Wing (right), named after the song about an Indian maiden by the George Lewis band, will be at the historic cinema on Thursday at 8pm.
The group are in the midst of a UK tour and will be stopping off in Harwich for a night of toe-tapping fun.
Formed in 1993, Red Wing play a mix of hot jazz and R&B, producing a great swinging sound in the New Orleans style.
At the Harwich cinema, the band will be joined by English clarinet and saxophone player, Brian Carrick.
Chris Strachan, chairman of the Friends of the Electric Palace, said: “Brian’s swinging jazz style has made him well known in Europe, especially Scandinavia, as well as the USA, so he is very often away on tour, but usually manages to fit in a gig in Harwich around this time of year.
“This year, he is bringing Swedish band Red Wing, so we are looking forward to an evening of really hot music.”
Tickets cost £10 and are available on 07786 744789 or 01255 553333.
