WORLD-CLASS windsurfers are set to hit the waves in Dovercourt this weekend.
Quiver Windsurfing, based at Dovercourt Boating Lake, in Lower Marine Parade, have secured Round Three of the BSA Slalom Championships, which will be held throughout the day tomorrow and on Sunday.
Riders can get up to speeds of 60 miles per hour as they take on a challenging course to find out who is the fastest.
There will also be time trial events and an opportunity for novice racers to take part and find out what the sport has to offer.
Organiser Darren Herbert said: “This could really put Harwich on the map.
“When people think of windsurfing, they think of beginners going really slowly and struggling to stay up, but these people can get up to 60 miles per hour with the right wind.
“Since we opened up, it has given some of the local kids something to do and it started from almost nothing, but now there is a really good community feel down there.”
