TWO faded zebra crossings are being repainted after years of campaigning by a councillor.
Essex Highways is repainting the zebra crossings outside Manningtree Library, in High Street, and outside Boots, in Station Road.
Councillor Carlo Guglielmi said he has been campaigning for the zebra crossings to be repainted for four years.
A concerned resident also wrote a letter to Manningtree Town Council saying the crossings are becoming a danger to the public with cars not stopping for pedestrians.
Mr Guglielmi wrote to Essex Highways about the crossings and said he was delighted action was being taken.
He said: βItβs all about safety really. There have been near misses when motorists have not spotted the zebra crossing until the last minute.β
