A YOUTH charity is appealing to the public for a new meeting room.

Harwich Inspired Youth Action, TeenTalk’s youth forum, has outgrown its current meeting place since the Harwich Hoody Festival, where it received a publicity boost.

It now has 15 members.

Libbie Miller, youth forum coordinator, said: “As you can imagine trying to have a meeting with 15 young volunteers as well as staff in a room about the size of a bedroom is very difficult.

“We have extremely limited funds and we may have to use these to pay for a meeting room and this means we loose out on money for projects and new events for the community.

“So we are campaigning to the public and local organisations as a youth forum to see if anyone has a large room available for our use fortnightly or even monthly.”

The group meets on two Wednesdays each month from 6pm until 8pm.

“The room would have to be in the Harwich and Dovercourt area and easy to get to for all young people who live all over the town, not in someones home but a room that is already used for community use,” said Miss Miller.

“We understand it may not be possible to find some space to be donated to us but even if anyone could offer us somewhere at a discounted rate we would appreciate it.
