PLANS to abolish a rent-relief scheme for organisations using Tendring Council facilities have been approved.
The decision by Tendring Council to axe financial support for 35 groups who use council-owned facilities was upheld by a scrutiny committee on Monday, December 13.
The meeting of the Community Leadership and Partnerships Committee was held in Tendring’s offices in Thorpe Road in Weeley.
Launched three years ago, the Community Asset Rent Offsetting Scheme sees groups pay just £150 a year to rent the buildings.
The scrutiny committee will now carry out an investigation into the scheme, and could recommend to Tendring Council’s cabinet the rent-relief is brought to a halt much sooner than three years time.
