PARKING fines totalling at least £18,000 have been handed out to market day drivers in Dovercourt.

A freedom of information request, put in by Harwich labour councillors, has revealed 531 tickets were given to people parking on Kingsway and Station Road in Dovercourt within nine months.

Traders, residents and councillors have complained about the enforcement of the friday restrictions since the North Essex Parking Partnership took over control of on-street parking in the district on April 1, 2011.

The latest figures show the tickets given out by the partnership up until December 31 last year.
