AN Army veteran is taking on a gruelling 600 mile run to mark the anniversary of a daring Second World War mission.
Ramsey and Parkeston councillor Rob Passmore is taking on the feat between Lichfield and Arnhem in Holland with a team of 16 other veterans.
Each runner will be tackling around 15 miles a day in relay with each other.
The mammoth task starts today and is expected to last just over a week.
The team known as The 1 Staffords - Band of Brothers, veterans from the 1st Battalion Staffordshire Regiment, are taking on the challenge to mark the 70th anniversary of Operation Market Garden.
Mr Passmore, 49, said: “I have been training for most of this year and I have been running up to 150km a month.”
This year the team are raising money for the British Heart Foundation, Fisher House and the Soldiers and Sailors Family Association.
