A CELEBRATION of 40 years’ worth of hard work and commitment took place at Tolleshunt D’Arcy Pre-School on Monday.

The pre-school dates back to 1976, when a group of women thought it would be a great idea to set up a local pre-school to keep children between 2-5 busy before they began school.

It has since evolved and developed into its current form which aims to provide all the facilities of a modern pre-school while retaining the essential aspects of a community run service.

40 years on, the team at the pre-school thought it would be a milestone worth celebrating, with photo displays, children’s activities, refreshments and community spirit.

The celebration took place in the village hall, where the pre-school started, despite the fact that they moved into the primary school two years ago.

Angie Own, Manager of the pre-school, said: “As the pre-school is still going strong after 40 years it was definitely worth celebrating.

“Our intention is to continue going from strength to strength and continue creating memories for the next celebrations.”
