A FILM club will meet for its Christmas social evening next week.

The Maldon Film Club has enjoyed a successful first half of its 2017-18 season, and will be showing animated film Ethel and Ernest on Tuesday.

The club will be combining the screening with our first social event of the season with some nibbles and mulled wine and other festive treats.

Ethel and Ernest follows the lives of this ordinary couple and their family through the war and the immense social changes of the 20th century. The director, Roger Mainwood, lives in the area and this is his first full length animated film.

The second part of the season starts on January 3 with films including this season’s “Classic” In the Heat of the Night, I Daniel Blake, Embrace of the Serpent, The Salesman, Manchester by the Sea, Toni Erdmann and Mr Holmes.

Doors open at 7.15pm on Tuesday, with other wine and soft drinks available, at a charge, from 7.30pm with the films commencing at 8pm.

People can join now for £25 and enjoy the remaining 12 films of the season for free. New members are welcome.

People can also turn up to watch a film as a guest for £3 per showing.
