LITTLE Oakley’s footballers have completed a glorious league and cup double.
Having already been crowned Essex and Suffolk Border League winners, the Acorns lifted the Knockout Cup after a 2-1 victory against Hatfield Peverel on Wednesday night.
Trailing at the break, they equalised through Jordan Heath, after Rob Pratt’s cross-shot came back off the Peverel post.
The same duo then combined again and, after more good work from Pratt, Heath slotted Oakley into a 2-1 lead.
It was an advantage they held onto under the lights at Brantham Athletic and a perfect way to finish an exceptional season for the Memorial Ground side.
The match was the club’s last Border League contest, having already secured promotion to step six of the non-league pyramid – the Thurlow Nunn League.
