HARWICH Swimming Club senior members Daryl Rands, Callum Everitt and Zoe Godfrey organised a house gala for all squad members.

The swimmers were divided into three teams – Adlington Alligators, Peary Penguins and Simmonds Seals – and took part in a variety of individual races and relays against each other in age groups of nine and under, 12 and under, Open and Masters.

For many of the younger swimmers, this was the first time they had experienced what it would be like to participate in a gala.

A very enjoyable time was had by swimmers and spectators alike, with the biggest cheering of the evening coming in the final squad relay, with 12 swimmers from each team taking part.

The race was nip-and-tuck all the way through, with just two seconds dividing the three teams in the end.

The lead was held at some point throughout the whole evening by each of the three teams but Peaty Penguins, captained by Callum, came out as overall winners with a score of 220 points, followed very closely by Adlington Alligators, captained by Daryl, with 214 points.

Last but certainly not least were Simmonds Seals, captained by Zoe, with 212 points.

All the swimmers will get medals at the annual presentation evening on November 30.
