LITTLE Oakley thrashed neighbours FC Clacton 5-0 at the Memorial Ground, writes LARRY DOBKIN.

The Seasiders almost went ahead after only two minutes, in the Essex Senior League derby.

A long ball out of defence setting James Letts free, allowing him to control the ball and get a speculative shot off which flew over.

The game then changed and Oakley took control of midfield, giving them a base to launch attack after attack.

Chances fell to Hipkin, Papple, Mann and Rowe but none really tested keeper Michael Betts until the 42nd minute.

A long ball through the centre of the Clacton defence picked out Mann, who was brought down in the box.

Mann dusted himself down to score the resultant penalty and put Oakley 1-0 up.

The second half started with an early chance for Papple whose shot forced Bett to push the ball out for a corner.

A smart passing move then saw Nobbs get to the goal-line and cross into the area where it bypassed everyone and went to safety.

With 56 minutes gone the lively Hipkin ran down the line crossing to the back post where Papple got his head on the cross putting the ball past the keeper giving Oakley a 2-0 lead.

And the Acorns went further ahead when Harman exchanged passes with Papple before unleashing a thunderous shot that flew into the top of the goal.

With plenty of time left Oakley became rampant, aiming to improve their goal difference.

Papple was proving a problem which Clacton did not seem to have a solution for.

A passing move from midfield ended with him hitting a powerful shot towards the top corner, where Bett pulled off an excellent save.

But he could only push the ball back into the area when the dangerous Mann followed in and passed the ball into the corner of the net, for his 25th goal of the season.

And the Acorns wrapped up a big win through Lumley, who received the ball on the run and went past a Clacton defender before passing the ball into the corner of the goal.

Oakley's player of the match was Rory Harman - scored a goal from left-back, run throughout the game and is the heartbeat of the team.
