Shrimpers taking it one season at a time
7:00am Friday 28th December 2012 in Local Sport By Matt Plummer
HARWICH and Parkeston chairman Tony Armstrong admits his club are resigned to Kent Blaxill Essex and Suffolk Border League football for the “foreseeable future”.
The Shrimpers have a long and proud history in higher echelons of the non-league pyramid, most recently the Eastern Counties League.
However, Armstrong says the notion of moving back to that level remains a pipe dream.
“As things stand, we’re operating on a season-to-season basis,” said long-serving stalwart Armstrong.
“We hope to keep going, of course, but, due to the lack of personnel involved and the condition of the facilities at our ground, we simply can’t look too far ahead.
“In a moment of optimism we might talk about trying to move back up the pyramid but, after considering the greater costs involved, the conversation quickly terminates.
“That means for the foreseeable future, we’ll remain a Border League club.”
