LITTLE Oakley’s footballers are preparing for one of their biggest tests of the season.

The Acorns are set to entertain high-flying West Bergholt, in tomorrow’s Kent Blaxill Essex and Suffolk Border League showdown at the Memorial Ground.

And joint-boss Paul Sadler knows his side will have their work cut out, against opposition who have only lost one premier division fixture all season.

Ironically, Bergholt’s only defeat so far came in last week’s 3-1 setback at pace-setters Harwich and Parkeston.

“It’s our first real test for a few months,” said Sadler, who runs the Oakley side along with Sean Tynan.

“But if we want to get something out of the game, we have to improve on last week’s performance at Great Bentley.

“That’s down to the players on the day.

“We were a bit under par last week but didn’t lose the game, so our unbeaten run is still going.

“We made individual errors and didn’t defend particularly well as a unit, consequently finding ourselves 3-1 down after 30 minutes.”
