Heartache for Acorns in the cup

Harwich and Manningtree Standard: Heartache for Acorns in the cup Heartache for Acorns in the cup

LITTLE Oakley joint-boss Paul Sadler is urging his players to bounce back from their cup semi-final heartache.

The Acorns missed out on a place in this season’s Border League Knockout Cup final after crashing to a 5-0 defeat in last week’s showdown against Alresford Colne Rangers.

Sadler admitted the setback was a body-blow, if flattering to their opponents.

However, he says the club must now focus on tomorrow’s premier division trip to Tiptree Jobserve.

“(Joint-boss) Sean (Tynan) and myself have to pick the players up and get back to winning ways,” said Sadler.

“With eight games left, we still have a lot of points to play for.

“We’ve got a hard run-in and we’ve still got to play the three teams challenging for the title.

“We’ll almost definitely have a say in that, so our boys have everything to play for in that respect.”
