HARWICH and Dovercourt Cricket Club have landed their first piece of silverware for a decade.
The jubilant Low Road side have been crowned division four champions in the PiriPiri North Essex League.
After losing their first match, they managed to stay unbeaten for the remainder of the campaign.
And they sealed top spot in style – chasing down 270 in just 34 overs to win at Abberton, on Sunday.
Proud skipper Dom Gueizelar described his side’s achievement as a “sweet success”.
“To lose our first game but then go on and stay undefeated was remarkable,” he said.
“I’ve pretty much worked with the same outfit week in, week out, so it’s been an all-round team effort that has made this achievement possible.
