CHASE Lane’s footballers proved a class act when winning a special event at Harwich and Parkeston’s Royal Oak ground.
The competition was run by the Harwich Primary Schools Sports Association and, after a good display, the Dovercourt school emerged victorious thanks to a 5-2 win against All Saints.
It was the ninth time in ten years they have lifted the crown.
Both teams had to play all the other primary schools in the area to qualify for the event.
They did that admirably, beating all the other contenders in the league.
This led to a pulsating final and Chase Lane opened the scoring through man-of-the-match Charlie Wottan.
However, All Saints responded quickly and this proved the pattern of the first half, with one more goal apiece for both schools.
The second half saw Chase Lane push forward and they were denied on numerous occasions by the courageous All Saints keeper.
However, another goal from Wottan, securing his hat-trick, and one each from Ryan Eggerichs and Ruby Kilden secured the title.
