PROUD Brantham Athletic boss Paul Skingley has praised the “first-class” commitment of his players.
The Imps pulled off the result of the day on the final weekend of the Thurlow Nunn League season, inflicting a first home defeat on champions Norwich United.
Ollie Mann scored both goals – one from the penalty spot and the other a cool finish from a counter-attack – as Brantham finished eighth in the premier division, with just one defeat in their final 12 fixtures.
“It was a great way to end the season,” said Skingley.
“The commitment levels of the players were first-class, considering we had nothing to play for.
“To inflict a first home defeat of the season on the champions was a feather in the lads’ caps.
“And they showed their class by staying on the field to applaud Norwich, when they were presented with their trophy.”
