LITTLE Bromley’s Grace Smith won the Novice Horse National Carriage Driving Championships, at Cirencester Park.
After competing in a strong class of 14 with horse Max, the teenager received sash, rosettes and trophies for the national title and winning the Novice Horse Points League.
Smith did not drive her best dressage test due to an injured wrist and rather a lot of tension but were still third, after this phase.
But the following day, they drove a very fast marathon to win the phase and take the overnight lead.
A very challenging cones course had been built for the final day of competition.
But Smith and Max were foot perfect to drive a double clear 21 seconds inside the time allowed to hold the lead.
There were only five double clears out of 150 competitors, showing how tough the course was.
