HARWICH and Dovercourt Owls face Harlow on Sunday in their fifth league game of the season.

After being promoted into the Women’s NC South East North One League, they have picked up two wins from their opening four games and sit fourth in the table.

Owls captain Sophia Tricker has been impressed with how the ever-expanding Owls squad continues to develop at the higher level.

"We have had several new players join us over the last month and the girls have really settled in well," she said.

"We continue to develop and learn every week in the new league.

"The girls and coaches have shown real commitment this season and are training twice a week.

"We are eager to continue our development this Sunday against Harlow by putting on a good show at home."

Also running alongside this game is a charity event in aid of Breast Cancer Now, which will be the launching of the Owls calendar Owls Fly Full Moon. The club welcome all spectators to come along and show their support for the charity, with the Owls v Harlow match kicking-off at 2pm.

With no league game last weekend, the Owls travelled to Lakenham-Hewett to play a friendly against Norwich Medics Ladies.

They were given a warm welcome as always.

The game consisted of four 20-minute quarters, which allowed players to be rotated into new positions and players new to ladies' rugby to gain experience. Scrums were uncontested due to the inexperienced front row of the home side.

The more experienced Owls showed great spirit and true rugby sportsmanship towards the home side, many of whom were playing their first 15-a-side game.

The Owls walked away 91-5 winners with great conversions made by props Di Wood and Tash Bray.

The score did not reflect the great effort and play from the home side, who never gave up, showing good progression from start to finish.
