YOUNG tennis aces have the chance to hone their skills at special sessions in Tendring.

Tennis for Kids is a national campaign designed by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and with two of the venues being The Waterfront, in Harwich, and Manningtree High School.

The aim is to get as many children as possible playing the sport - last year's initiative saw 20,000 youngsters pick up a racket for the first time - and the sessions will be led by coach Matthew Watson.

The LTA have again invested more than £1 million into the campaign and the cost is £25 per child.

This covers six hours of coaching, a personalised T-shirt and a Babolat tennis racket and ball set.

The sessions are intended for children aged four to 11 and anyone interested needs to register with the LTA first.

This can be done by visiting www.clubspark.lta.org.uk/tennisforkids

The national launch date for the campaign is April 5, which will allow you to book on to a course of your choice.
