A REVIVED bid has gone in to create a car wash in Dovercourt after plans were thrown out last year.

The property on Main Road, is a currently a “car parking area to rear of retail unit” and would be turned into a hand car wash facility.

Initial plans for the car wash were thrown out by Tendring Council in August after planners ruled it would have a "poor and unpracticable layout."

The plans show the car wash would mean five fewer spaces in the current car park of eight with business Homecraft still keeping the three spaces under the plan.

The proposed development would also mean an increase of hours with one full-time and one-part employees being replaced by two full-time employees.

From Monday to Saturday the car wash would be open from 9am to 6pm and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

In August, Harwich Town Council objected to the application and said the “negative environmental impact of a car wash” would cause increased noise levels, water pollution and a drainage system that is unable to cope with additional volumes of water.

In the current application, foul sewage and “surface water” will be disposed of using the “mains sewer” with the existing drainage system also being contacted.

Another previous objection by Harwich Town Council was that it would cause increase traffic and potential for queues on the busy junction next to the “war memorial”.

However, Essex County Council highways said the proposal “would not likely create significant intensification.”

The latest application was received on January, 8 by Tendring Council.
